The content of OWL training

The innovation of this practice lies in the simplicity of the exercise.

 

OWL combines the competitiveness of sports and the creativity of performing arts with unforeseeable situations and chance. By capturing the spontaneity and the immense concentration of being in the moment, the individual is pushed into a newly enhanced presence of mind.

 

Participants will experience this state of mindfulness in an accessible way, easy to identify and to ultimately incorporate into their work and everyday lives.

WHAT CAN I EXPECTED TO ENCOUNTER ON THIS PROGRAMME?

Neurological and Anthropological studies defend that as long as once accepts the commitment and gives oneself fully to the action, it is not possible to get it wrong.

 

While our trainers provide the environment and the physical tasks leading to peak performance, there is a key component that mindfulness methodology needs to exist… YOU!

Within any OWL Training program, every participant needs to exercise self-awareness:

 

  • Make The Decision: “I want to do this”
  • Exercise Commitment: “I am going to do this”
  • Engage in External and Self-evaluation: “How did I do that?”

The success of OWL training relies on you and your commitment to it. You are central to your own experience and personal growth. This is your body, your mind, your training.

If we break down the Jackie Chan effect consists of:

  • Confidence on your Skills… you have been practising your professional and personal skills for really long time. Be confident, you are good at what you do. 1st rule: is all about you!!!
  • Multitasking… you are aware of your thoughts, you are confident on your actions, you are able to read the room; gather all that conscious and unconscious information and act upon it. 2nd rule, is all about how you interact with your surroundings.
  • When you know what you are doing, it can be really goof fun!!! 3rd and most important rule: Enjoy your task!!!

This training has been developed to ensure that the emphasis is placed upon the individual’s experience.

This prioritisation of the participant’s experience, calls upon individuals to reach a state of immersive engagement through their actions. The repetition of one single gesture, such as shaking hands or repeating a series of numbers for a couple of minutes leads to extenuation of the conscious mind this is turn results in more honest ways to execute any given task.

Contrary to what would appear to be a logical effect of exhaustion, awareness actually becomes more acute from a physically and mentally depleted state, the body “reacts independently, has instinctive reflexes and functions most effectively” The whole attitude towards the state of mind of performance presence can be summarised as an owning your active surrendering

OWL Training encourages a constant playful attitude and creative approach towards the work. Play is a voluntary activity, playful behavior is never imposed; it is spontaneous and goal oriented. It places ourselves in a certain frame of mind that pushes us to do our best, regardless of any circumstances outside the game

THE BOTTLE GAME

 

For this activity, participants throw, dodge and catch plastic bottles with 750ml of water inside. Using controlled risk, this activity requires immense awareness, forcing the individual into a holistic state of mind geared towards peak performance of the task.

These 60 minute sessions are specifically directed towards high caliber professionals seeking focused and individualized training. Clients will meet with their trainer once a week first to locate what is the pattern of behaviour they want to work on, and then to design and implement the new upgrade.

Clients wiil have access to unlimited remote support and follow-up advise with their trainer through text messaging, skype or phone.

Minimum of 3 sessions is required

This programme offers time and opportunity to explore the theoretical fundamentals behind OWL training open discussions and roup reections alongside the physical practice. This enables participants to develop deeper, personal connections, optimizing their training experience and strengthening the group dynamic among colleagues.

This is why with every OWL training package, we offer additional remote support upon the conclusion of the course through personalized feedback sessions, continuous remote training for a limited period of time and exclusive online resources.

PERFORMING ARTS PROGRAM

Have you ever watched someone that has a special... something... that attracts everyone’s attention? Why is that some people have more performative presence than others?Artists and researchers have struggled to name that special quality those few performers exhibit, the unique ability to shine stage. However, developments within elds such as cognitive sciences and phenomenology, have already systematised and labeled human states of consciousness allowing us to get a bit closer to this yet-untouched area of the performer’s training.

To support performing artists seeking to access the state of mind associated with peak performance, we have developed a longer-term course to encourage participants to integrate OWL training into their ongoing performance practice. Participants will meet throughout the year to revisit the training methodology, develop strategies to implement OWL training into their daily practice, and to reect on their personal journey towards peak performance.

INTRODUCTORY WORKSHOP

Participants will meet for 2 hours each a day for one week, where they will cover the core concepts of OWL and develop their own individual training routine.

2 DAY FOLLOW-UP WORKSHOP

Between two to four months after the initial meeting, participants will meet again to revisit and expand on the training methodologies.

LAST 2 DAY FOLLOW-UP WORKSHOP

Again, between two to four months after the follow-up workshop, participants will meet to revisit the training, reflect on how the training has affected their performance and to conclude the workshop.

Throughout the course, performers will have additional support from their trainers via text messaging and phone conversations as well as exclusive access to resources including audio exercises and leading research in mindfulness in relation to the performing arts.
